Puppy Information
All puppies will go home with a puppy folder which will include:
1. AKC limited registration papers.
2. Certificate of pedigree.
3. Copy of Contract.
4. Written health guarantee.
5. Health records which will show all inoculations and de-wormings administered. Along with the date, product used, reason for giving
and a schedule of the next inoculations required for maintaining a healthy puppy.
6. Recommendations on feeding, health care, training, house breaking, etc.
7. Microchip paperwork.
8. NuVet Plus Canine Brochure & reading materials.
9. Vet Health Certificate.
All puppies will also go home with a goody bag which will include:
1. Collar with microchip ID tag attached.
2. Small bag of puppy food to get you through the first feeding until you are able to purchase a bag.
3. Some Toys & Treats.
4. Sample of NuVet Plus Vitamins.
5. Small Blanket/Cloth with scent of mother and siblings on it.
All puppies also come with the AKC Puppy Protection Package which includes:
1. Free 30-days of AKC Pet Insurance. This plan protects your new puppy up to $1,500 with no obligation and no additional
cost to you. After the 30 day trial, you may continue the plan if you would like to protect your puppy. *activation required.
2. Certificate for a complimentary initial Veterinary Office visit at any practice in the AKC Veterinary Network. **with purchase
of Gold Canine Care Package.
3. New Puppy Handbook- comprehensive manual about caring for your new puppy.
4. AKC e-newsletter- provides insider tips and stories about the world of purebred dogs.
5. Official AKC Registration Certificate- personalized with the name of your dog along with your name as the new owner.
We now microchip all of our dogs. In order for us to offer a health guarantee, your puppy must be permanently identified with a microchip before it leaves our home. If you elect not to have this service, we cannot provide a written guarantee. The microchip starts out registered in our name and you must transfer it into your name. We can do this at my home. If you do not transfer the microchip to your name we will be notified if your dog is found, not you, the new owner. If you cannot be found when called about the microchip and then after showing reasonable means of contacting you and exhausting all efforts we shall regain ownership of the puppy. If you don't contact us within 90 days we will find a new pet home for the puppy.
Because of the variety and differing quality of dog foods available (and all canine illness aren't covered by vaccination), we require that all Smithpoint retriever puppies be kept on "NuVet Plus" Canine throughout the longest guarantee period. This nutritional supplement is only available through breeder recommendation. You will be instructed concerning this when you take possession of your puppy. You are expected to have this on hand before you leave our home, you may order or you may purchase when you pick the puppy up from our home. The order phone number is: 1-800-474-7044. NuVet Labs sends us a monthly report on which Smithpoint Retrievers are being supplemented with NuVet Plus Canine. IF YOUR PUPPY IS NOT KEPT ON NUVET PLUS CANINE WE WILL NOT HONOR OUR GUARANTEE. Puppies are born in our home with our family. They are socialized and cared for like they are our own children. Puppies are ready to leave at 8 weeks old after they have been weaned from their dam. Before leaving each puppy will have a final physical examination with their vet. Upon passing they will be awarded a certificate of health from the vet and will be provided to you. If at any time you have a question or problem with your puppy please feel free to call and we will attempt to help in any way. We request that all owners keep us informed on their puppy. We are interested in the final out come of our breeding program and would appreciate any pictures and notifications on progress. The purchaser agrees not to sell or transfer their puppy from us to any person or firm connected with the sale or resale of dogs, a pet shop, puppy mill, or animal broker of any kind. This puppy will not be surrendered to a shelter. We will be happy to take the puppy back, if at all possible, if you are not interested in keeping it. However, no refund will be given in this circumstance. We are here throughout the life of the dog.
To reserve a puppy from a current litter or planned breeding we require a deposit. The deposit is not refundable except for the reason listed below. It is imperative that you reserve as soon as possible in order to get the puppy of your choice. I reserve the pick of the litter in the order that I receive the deposits. First deposit gets first pick and so on. Most of our puppies are spoken for before the litter ever gets here, so the sooner the better. All reservations are considered "pending" until we receive the deposit, at which time we will confirm your reservation by phone or email. The deposit will be refunded if for any reason we are unable to furnish you with a puppy of the desired sex and color specified, or you may transfer your deposit to the next letter. The deposit is non-refundable for cancellations of deposit on the purchasers part for any reason, but can be transferred to a future litter. If I agree to make an exception to the above and process a refund for you, there will be a $50 fee taken out of the original deposit.
The object of our breeding program is to strive for the best retrievers possible. We spend a great deal of time caring for our dogs and try to keep the number of dogs to a minimum in order for us to concentrate all our efforts on the dogs we own. We do not sell puppies to breeders.
