SHEA BUTTER Shea butter is the main ingredient used in your organic dog’s balms. All of our butters build from shea butter. Cold pressed oil from the nuts of the Shea tree, it is used for its ability to moisturize and retain the elasticity of the skin. Shea butter has also been known to help protect the skin against the damaging effects of the sun while repairing cellular degeneration. Our shea butter is refined and deodorized without the use of harsh chemicals. Our shea butter is hand harvested, certified organic, and expeller pressed. Shea butter has quickly become a go-to butter for the most opulent of balms and luxurious body pampering. Your dog deserves the best and shea butter is it. The shea tree grows almost exclusively in Western Africa, where it is used as a food, cooking oil, beauty product and source of income. It takes approximately 15 years of growth before the tree begins to bear fruit.
SHEA OIL is extremely high in Vitamins A, E and F. It provides skin with all the essential elements it needs for good balance, elasticity and tone. Shea Oil is the base for The Blissful Dog Shine On! Nose Polish™. Using she oil enables your dog to have the same healthy ingredients as shea butter, but in an easy to apply oil form. It is not just melted down shea butter, is is processed differently to stay at a liquid form.
COCOA SEED BUTTER is an aromatic solid butter pressed from the roasted seeds of the Cacao tree. It softens at body temperature and adds a rich, creamy, thick consistency to our butters. There is no heavy chocolate smell or caffeine left in the butter we use, just a nutty goodness. Note: There is none of the active ingredient in dark chocolate in the Cacao Seed Butter. So, no harm to your precious dog!
ALMOND OIL is best known for its ability to soften, soothe, and re-condition the skin. It made from raw almond kernels and exceptionally rich in fatty acids.
COCONUT OIL is a renowned general moisturizing oil and serves as a protective layer, helping to retain the moisture in your skin. It is great for inflamed and irritated skin, and those with skin sensitivities. For years I had hesitated to use Coconut Oil, maybe it was all those summers slathered in Hawaiian Tropics suntan oil that I am paying the price for now. But after testing it, I knew that it had to be added to the mix.
CASTOR OIL comes from certified organic Castor beans. It is a hard, shiny oil that acts as a “barrier agent and protective medium against harsh conditions and extremes.” I resisted this one for a while, maybe thinking about having to ingest Castor Oil as a child did it, but it is such an amazing oil, I added it and am thrilled with the results. Note: There is none of the properties of the ricin that has been in the news (and Breaking Bad). The process that makes it oil eliminates that possibility.
COMFREY OIL infusion is made from certified organic Comfrey leaves and root (Symphytum officinale) infused (steeped) in a base of certified organic Olive oil. Traditionally used for general wound healing, treatment of bruises and for skin cell growth. Comfrey grows throughout Europe, North America and western Asia. Its leaves are dark green and covered with short hairs.

BEESWAX is a wonderful substance secreted by worker honeybees. I use beeswax that is certified organic and when I can get it it, from Minnesota bees. Beeswax has a higher melting temperature, so it helps the various butters in the tubes keep their shape and ship bit better. PAW BUTTER and ELBOW BUTTER organic dog butters have more beeswax since it acts as such an amazing protective barrier.
