All puppies offered by us are first and foremost, a true best friend!
If you are interested in getting a puppy, please contact us through the "contact us" form here on our website, and if you have a few minutes, please fill out the "puppy application" so that you can tell us a little more about yourself and about what type of puppy you are looking for. We keep a waiting list for future litters, so if we do not currently have a puppy for you, we will keep your application on file and call you when we have one available. So please make sure you tell us what type of puppy you are looking for, include the color you want and the gender you would prefer. Thank you.
Before each puppy leaves our home to goto their new "forever home", they are checked by a Veterinarian from the tip of their little noses to the tip of their wagging tails. They have their heart, lungs, eyes, nose, mouth, and joints thoroughly examined. After their exam, the Veterinarian issues each puppy a health certificate. They are also given their shots and wormed before we let them leave our home to go live with their new families.
Here at Smithpoint Retrievers we microchip every puppy. Did you know that every two seconds a family pet is lost or stolen? Tragically, most never make it back home because they aren't microchipped, and either their collar and tag slipped off or was taken off so there isn't any way to identify them. With a microchip, your pet can't leave home without his or her identification! If your dog is found and brought to a shelter, they'll check him/her for a microchip with a special scanner. When the shelter finds the chip number they call the hotline, and search the database for your contact information, contact you, and your pet comes home! The microchip we use charges a very small fee for lifetime registration in their database for your puppy. There are no annual fees, and they are open 24/7, 365 days a year! We strongly believe that every puppy/dog should be chipped so that in an event where they get separated from you, lost, or stolen, that they will have a better chance to be returned and reunited with you resulting in a happy ending for them & for you! Many tragedies can be prevented with a microchip! Many dogs lose their lives in shelters every day because they aren't found in time. We gladly include microchipping to protect your puppies life, and to ensure he/she can be returned to you in the event they ever get lost.
We occasionally have Yellow, Black, and Chocolate puppies available to approved homes. Our puppies are very special to us. Our puppies cannot go to their new forever homes before 8 weeks of age. All are sold on AKC limited registration. We want all of our puppies to goto loving pet homes. Your dog will be AKC registered, but cannot be used as breeding stock. We require you to sign a contract upon picking up your puppy.
There is no such thing as a "silver" labrador, it is not a dilute shade of chocolate, and it isn't recognized by the AKC. Be wary of breeders selling rare "silvers" there was obviously Weimaraner introduced into the breeding program to get that color, you can see signs of it in their ears, their coat color, and their eyes. The AKC will not paper them as silver, and those breeders are wrongfully papering them as chocolates. With the introduction to DNA testing in the AKC breeding programs, the AKC will one day be putting a stop to these bad breeding practices.
